Reduce~Reuse~Recycle

If you are looking for the Getting Cricky Blog Hop, please click here.

Welcome to the Upcycle Blog Hop hosted by my fantastic friend Tanya, aka the Scrappy Scavenger.  If you have hopped along from the beginning, you would have arrived here from Janice’s Blog.  Didn’t you just love what she did?  GASP…you haven’t seen it yet?  Perhaps you should start at the beginning then with Tanya’s blog.  For this hop, we are all featuring projects we have “upcycled”…you know, reused and made prettier than it was before.  I was originally going to just do a toilet paper roll gift card holder (cuz it’s quick and easy and I was running out of time), but then my Home Teacher stopped by with some box lunches for us (yay free dinner with no dishes) and I said to myself “WOW…I could so totally repurpose this box” so I did!

Here’s the before:

Kinda bleh huh…it was a good-sized little tote box though…it just needed some TLC to make it pretty.  Here’s what I turned it into:

Much better don’t you think?  The pattered paper is from the DCVW Glam Girl stack and the solid paper is from my LSS.  For the embellishment on the top, I added a doily from the dollar store with a couple of  paper flowers and silver brad.  It was so easy, especially considering I was sleeping and this project wasn’t even started 3 hours ago.  The stamped sentiment along the top is from Scripture Sayings by K Andrew Designs.  Be sure to use code 20faith through Sunday night to save 20% on all your K Andrew Designs stamp purchases!

Here’s a view from the top:

I think I will use this box to collect the things I am thankful for throughout the week and then journal it all via my blog or real journal journal Sunday evening.  Maybe I will have my kids alter their boxes for a Family Home Evening project and do the same thing too.  For this hop, I will be giving away an embellishment similar to the one shown on this box…yours may vary slightly and will probably be better than what’s seen here.  To be eligible to win, please leave a comment on this post letting me know what your favorite things to upcycle are.  That’s it…you don’t even have to be a confirmed email subscriber; however, if you’d like to get email updates when new posts are made, be sure to subscribe at the top right side of my blog.  Wordpress will send you a confirmation email with a link.  You MUST click that link to confirm your subscription!

Your next step on this fun hop is Bridgette from Nuts about (Cri) Cuts.  She has a fantastically fun project that you won’t want to miss.  And, if you get lost along the way, here’s the line-up:

  1. I love your lunch box re do. It turned out lovely, I especially do love your flower embellishment. I like to recycle jars and cereal boxes. Tf
