Among the many hats I wear are these: mom, daughter, goddess in training, sister, aunt, niece, sister-in-law, friend and probably an enemy too actually.  When those aren’t enough, there’s, student, creator, inventor, Latter Day Saint, Visiting Teacher and believer. I try to be a good listener, but I’m a better talker.  My kids think I’m a “crazy fast typer”, and I’m a reader. I’m a wisher and a dreamer, I’m a thinker, and I am passionate. I’m a music connoisseur, and craft guru. I’m an amateur chef, a writer, photographer, scrapbooker, and shoe lover. I’m an all-or-nothing-in-it-to-win-it type with no room for shades of gray or ecru. I’m a Jane of many trades and have even mastered a few.

Purple makes me  happy.  Correction…anything purple makes me happy.  It doesn’t matter if it’s mine or not, it doesn’t matter if it’s big or small, it doesn’t matter if it’s good or bad and it doesn’t even matter what shade of purple (though I do like some purples better than others).  If purple were a man, I’d probably still be married because it never disappoints.

Did you know that through the ages purple has often been associated with royalty?  My father is not just a king, he is the King of Kings so purple is fitting don’t ya think?  I ♥ purple!  Purple completes me!  As a side note…purple is also the color for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and I am proud to say that my children and I survived it!  Purple makes me as proud as it does happy.  If though, for whatever reason “it” can’t be purple, then blue and green are acceptable substitutes. *GIGGLE*

There’s a quote by someone famous that goes something like how what the caterpillar thought was the end of its life, the butterfly knew was just the beginning.  Early in one of the most difficult times in my life I read a quote that said, “when you have come to the edge of all light that you know and are about to drop off into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing one of two things will happen: there will be something solid to stand on or you will be taught to fly” (Patrick Overton).  In my experience…I’ve pretty much been taught to fly.  After being reminded of these quotes about the same time the song below was popular, I sort of developed a thing for butterflies.

I just love where the lyrics say “everywhere she goes everybody knows she’s so glad to be alive.”  If you’ve ready my story, you know nothing could be more true or correct.  “God bless the butterfly, give her the strength to fly never let her wings touch the ground.”  Like the caterpillar, what I thought would be the end of my life was really just the beginning.  Yup, you guessed it, I ♥ this song too!

I’m a pretty simple gal actually…I wear all those hats I first mentioned and more, I ♥ purple and blue and green (but mostly just purple) and butterflies.  It doesn’t get much simpler than that.  This new blog site serves as my creative outlet.  On it you might find some of my craft projects, some of my favorite foods, some tidbits about my everyday life, my hopes, my dreams, and anything else I feel inspired to share. This blog is all about me and how I live.  If you enjoy anything you read and want to leave a comment, please do.  I read and approve all comments individually so you are free to say whatever’s on your mind.
