Getting Cricky With it Surprise Hop

Public apologies for how late I am in getting this posted.  I was gone most of the day today and then this evening has been, in a word, hell.   I’ll be very glad when it’s over and I can try it again tomorrow.  At any rate, today the Design Team is bringing you some very special projects created for our wonderful and amazing leader Kristal! Our term is almost over and we wanted to show her just how much we appreciate ALL that she has done for us this term. The projects that we will be sharing with you will also be sent to Kristal. We encourage ALL of her fans to join in on the fun as well! Why not link up your own project for her up before you mail it off to her!

If you’ve hopped along from Shawn’s Crafty Chicks Blog  then you are in the right place!! If you are just joining me from your dashboard, or reading this via email, please be sure to visit RhoLynda, our Surprise Hop Coordinators’s blog Blossoming Butterfly Creations to start at the beginning.  The goal of this hop was to create a little something something to thank her for her all she does.  I was a naughty girl and did not use a K Andrew Designs stamp set for this project because what I wanted to say just couldn’t be expressed by any combination of stamps.  Kristal is not just my DT Leader, she is my friend and my inspiration and my life will never be the same because she has graced it.  She always encourages me to be better than I often think I’m capable of and I feel like we are more than co-workers/creators and more than friends.  We are soul-sisters for sure.  So my dear sweet Kristal, this one is for you:

The sentiment reads “Thank you for the difference you’ve made in my life.”  Kristal my dear, that difference is HUGE and I appreciate you!  Next up in this surprise hop is the marvelous Amy from Love To Crop.  And, if you get lost along the way, here’s the entire line-up:

Argh! Ahoy me hearties, time fer de Getting Cricky hop!

Welcome to the November Getting Cricky Blog Hop!  Congratulations to all of our new DT Sisters!  We are so excited to have you join us!  If you have arrived here from Janis’ Blog, you’re hopping along the right track.  If you didn’t come from Janis’ blog, please start at the beginning with Kristal from Getting Cricky.

I just received the new release in the mail yesterday YAY!  I have to tell you this is probably my favoritest release EVER…yes I may have said that last time too, but I really mean it this time ( I meant it last time too though hee hee).  Today got away from me (I tried cleaning my Scred Room…I’m no where CLOSE to done either) and I only had time to make one project.  I knew that I HAD to use this one particular sentiment from Pirate Tales and Fish Scales.  For my project I used Core’dinations paper as the card base and ship shape.  The ship was cut with SCAL and made using the trace image feature.  The background paper I made in Photoshop and printed on white cardstock.  I then used Tim Holtz Brushed Corduroy distress ink to color the paper.  It looks really orange in this photo but it’s actually brown.

I specially requested “Dead men tell no tales” be included in this stamp set for a lot of reasons.   Those of you that know me well already know some of them…those that don’t know well…it’s our little secret hee hee!  This stamp release is so amazing…I will be busy for weeks and months and years playing with all the possible combinations…some of them my youngest daughter came up with while in the car looking at them yesterday were:

Owl be seeing you cupcake (Owly Hoo and Coffee and Treats Tag-a-long)

Owl keep an eye out (Owly Hoo and Pirate Tales and Fish Scales)

Owl be seeing you soon  (Owly Hoo, Hooty Owl Accessories and Pirate Tales and Fish Scales)

Party on the poop deck (Priate Tales and Fish Scales)

Owl be sweet (Hooty Owl Accessories and Coffee and Tea Time)

There are so many other combinations that can be made…check out the newest releases below and see what fun combinations you can create!

Isn’t this an INCREDIBLE release?  Guess what?  EVERYONE who orders 25.00 or more will receive a FREE mini stamp set, and everyone who orders 45.00 or more will receive a FREE full stamp set (random) with their order. The free shipping code to use is: postagevalue.  Wow isn’t Kristal so incredibly generous?!?!?!?  Visit her store today and pick up some of these amazing stamps for yourself.  Be sure to tell her I sent you too!

Next up is the fabulous Ildi the Craftin Mama .  Her project is very unique so make sure you visit her blog and check it out.  It almost makes me wish I had a handyman in the house so I could raid his toolbox!   In case you get lost along the way, here’s the entire line-up:

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Happy World Card Making Day and welcome to the Breast Cancer Awareness Hop hosted by my friend Denise at Vintage Heartfelt Designs.  You should have arrived here from Kari’s blog (now being hosted at WordPress too YAY!), but if not, please visit Denise’s blog to start at the beginning.  Before I get to my project, let me tell you why I chose to be a part of this hop.

Cancer should be a four letter word.  Several of my very closest of girlfriends have survived this dreaded disease…against impossible odds.  Imagine for a minute being diagnosed with breast cancer at…19?!?!?  Life-changing doesn’t even begin to explain it…by the time this friend was 30, both breasts had cancer in them and doctors even found lung cancer (her breast cancer metastasized).  I was there for one of her treatments.  It was unpleasant to witness; I can only imagine the difficulty it must have been for my friend.  I love you my friend…I’m glad you have beaten this thing so many times!

Then there’s another friend…she lost her mom to breast cancer only to wind up with it herself later in life.  I believe one of the greatest things you can do for another person is to pray for them.  This friend has prayed for me for years and I am so much stronger for it.  I am pleased to report, she has been cancer free now for ten years this past August! YAY!!!

Then there’s the woman who changed my life.  I met her years ago and I only got to have her in my life for about a year or so before cancer took her away from me.  When she died, I pretty much lost an entire week of my life because I was so overcome with grief and sorrow.  I am thankful for the time I had her in my life though and will never forget the time we shared.  This woman taught me more about unconditional love, service, compassion, and finding the silver lining in every cloud than anyone ever has.  I think about her each and every day and miss her more than words can ever describe.  If I ever grow up, I want to be just like her.  She is my hero and I hope I can be even half as brave as she always was.  She loved me like a daughter, I loved her like a mother…I love and miss you Mom!

Then there’s been a speaker at Time Out For Women, and some Mary Kay National Sales Directors I know, and my friend’s grandmother, and, and, and…I hate cancer.  I need that t-shirt that says Cancer Sucks.

This is a hop I just KNEW I had to be a part of.  Originally I had intended to create a beautiful mini toilet paper roll album (man was it gonna be awesome) but I had some machine failure and got aggravated and gave up.

Here’s what I came up with instead:

This project was inspired by Michelle, aka Scrappin With My Bug who just did a video on a gift card holder using her Cricut.  I was pretty sure I could do basically the same thing on my eCraft…I was right.  Not too bad if I do say so myself right?!?!?!?  Here’s the inside:

You didn’t think I was REALLY going to let you see a bank card with the name and number on it now did you?!?!?!  I haven’t gotten a chance to buy a gift card to put in here, but I wanted to show you what it looks like with a card anyway.  How fun would it be to get a bunch of sponsor support and get gift cards fora  mani/pedi to donate to women struggling to beat this horrid disease?  Just a thought…

Supplies Needed:
My SVG file (sorry this is only for the blog candy winner)
Scrap Paper for decorating the gift card holder (from my stash)
K Andrew Designs Stamps (Positive Thoughts, Winter Wishes, Scripture Sayings)
Ink (Chocolate Chip Stampin’ Up)
Adhesive (Mono tape runner)
Manual Die Cutting Machine (used Cuttlebug)
Embossing Folder of your choice (no idea what I used)

Once you cut your file, you are ready to embellish.  I can’t tell you the measurements I used because I just eye balled it.  The pink on the flap where it says Today is  Your Day and the background mat came from a stack called Tiffany’s but I forget who makes it.  The rest is just random paper from my stash.  All I did was cut my card base, and the “topper” shown on the right, then embellish the inside and outside of the holder.  For my blog candy, I will be giving away the SVG I used to make this gift card holder.  You will need to have SCAL or MTC or something like it to use it.  If you don’t, I will cut one for you as a template and mail it.  When you leave a comment, please indicate which delivery method you would prefer.

Now…as for how to be eligible to win?  Just leave a comment on this post…it’s that easy.

Your next stop along the way is Haidee from Created 2 B Unique.  In case you get lost along the way, here’s the entire line-up:

20. Charity Donaldson
21. VinDeeLoo (Denise Purdy-Lewis)

Welcome to the Upcycle Blog Hop hosted by my fantastic friend Tanya, aka the Scrappy Scavenger.  If you have hopped along from the beginning, you would have arrived here from Janice’s Blog.  Didn’t you just love what she did?  GASP…you haven’t seen it yet?  Perhaps you should start at the beginning then with Tanya’s blog.  For this hop, we are all featuring projects we have “upcycled”…you know, reused and made prettier than it was before.  I was originally going to just do a toilet paper roll gift card holder (cuz it’s quick and easy and I was running out of time), but then my Home Teacher stopped by with some box lunches for us (yay free dinner with no dishes) and I said to myself “WOW…I could so totally repurpose this box” so I did!

Here’s the before:

Kinda bleh huh…it was a good-sized little tote box though…it just needed some TLC to make it pretty.  Here’s what I turned it into:

Much better don’t you think?  The pattered paper is from the DCVW Glam Girl stack and the solid paper is from my LSS.  For the embellishment on the top, I added a doily from the dollar store with a couple of  paper flowers and silver brad.  It was so easy, especially considering I was sleeping and this project wasn’t even started 3 hours ago.  The stamped sentiment along the top is from Scripture Sayings by K Andrew Designs.  Be sure to use code 20faith through Sunday night to save 20% on all your K Andrew Designs stamp purchases!

Here’s a view from the top:

I think I will use this box to collect the things I am thankful for throughout the week and then journal it all via my blog or real journal journal Sunday evening.  Maybe I will have my kids alter their boxes for a Family Home Evening project and do the same thing too.  For this hop, I will be giving away an embellishment similar to the one shown on this box…yours may vary slightly and will probably be better than what’s seen here.  To be eligible to win, please leave a comment on this post letting me know what your favorite things to upcycle are.  That’s it…you don’t even have to be a confirmed email subscriber; however, if you’d like to get email updates when new posts are made, be sure to subscribe at the top right side of my blog.  Wordpress will send you a confirmation email with a link.  You MUST click that link to confirm your subscription!

Your next step on this fun hop is Bridgette from Nuts about (Cri) Cuts.  She has a fantastically fun project that you won’t want to miss.  And, if you get lost along the way, here’s the line-up:

September Getting Cricky Blog hop

Getting Cricky Blog Hop

Welcome to the Getting Cricky Blog Hop!!

Can you believe it’s already been a month since the last Getting Cricky Blog Hop…me either!  My Faithful Leader Kristal Andrew and fellow DT Sisters are so excited to showcase the newest sets to hit K Andrew Designs.  There is so much flexibility with these stamps sets…just you wait and see.  This month our theme is Fall-O-Ween…you know Fall and Halloween projects…don’t be surprised if you see a winter or Christmas themed project or two or five either though!

Our special guest this month is Heather from Heather’s Crafty Blog Space, and we are  just THRILLED to have her join us!  If you’ve hopped along from Janis’ Blog, then you are right on track!  If you are just blog stalking me and reading this post because you got an alert, be sure to CLICK HERE to start at the beginning with Kristal’s blog (you’ll want to catch up on all the FUN!!).  As most of you know, each of Kristal’s stamp sets benefit charity with $1 per stamp set going the charity noted package.  Kristal matches that dollar for dollar as well.

Kristal currently donates to the following charities: Cancer Angels, Storefront Shelter for Homeless Children, Intrepid & Fallen Heroes, E. Glaser Pediatric AIDS  Foundation, Doorways Shelter for Women & Children (Domestic Violence), Wayside House for Women, Camp Good Days & Special Times, Adopt a Classroom, and Autism Research Institute. Each time you purchase a K Andrew Designs art stamp set, someone around the country is receiving some good help, plus K Andrew Designs stamps are all made and assembled here in the USA, which is very important to Kristal. This ensures all product materials are safe and that jobs are being provided and maintained here in the US!  Support our economy, give Americans jobs and buy made in the USA!

Now…let’s talk about the stamps the DT is featuring tonight shall we…see for yourselves:

Fall-O-Ween benefits “Adopt a Classroom”
Winter Wishes benefits “Adopt a Classroom”
Scripture Sayings benefits “Good Samaritan Health Center”

For my projects, I’ve chosen to feature ALL of the above sets.  First up we have a toilet paper roll gift card holder using Winter Wishes:

This was really simple…I used a Spellbinders die to cut out the toilet paper core all fancy like after painting the core red and letting it dry.  I smooshed it flat in my Grand Calibur, embellished and inserted my visa just to show you what it looks!  Cute huh?!?!?

Ok…next from the Scrpiture Sayings set (my personal new favorite set), is this:

Again I used Spellbinders and just embellished your basic A2 Card base.  A little tip for ya….when you have paper that is flimsy and you want to use it to tie ribbon around (or in my case tape ribbon around) mount it to some ugly cardstock…that’s what I did here.  Great way to use up that old ugly paper and no one has to know…unless you tell them!

Finally, I promised you I’d take stamping somewhere you’ve never seen it go before right….check out how I used the Fall-O-Ween set:

Yes folks…this IS a cookie I stamped!!!!

Here’s what it looks like frosted:

And here’s a close-up of the stamping:

To stamp on a cookie or anything food related, you will need some food writers like these that I am giving away as blog candy for this hop:

To win, simply leave a comment on this post and…yes, that’s right, be a follower!

Now you will need to have TWO sets of all your favorite K Andrew Design stamps…one for food and one for paper.

Guess what…you’re in luck!  Save 20% on ALL your purchases this weekend using code 20faith.

I will have an additional reward for one lucky winner if I end up with the most discounted purchases.  Kristal gave each of us our own code so it can be tracked!  HOW FUN!!!!!

Now you can hop on over to your next stop…the Amazing Craftin’ Mama Ildi

In case you get lost along the way, here’s the entire lineup:

eCraft is SEW easy!

Welcome back to the second installment of the eCraft blog hop where one lucky hopper* will receive a brand new FREE eCraft from Craftwell!  Thank you Craftwell for being so generous and sponsoring this hop!!!!  If you have arrived here from Lyssa’s blog then you are on the right track!  To start at the beginning, please go to my dear friend Raven’s blog Love 4 Stamps.  She LOVES fabric and sewing and has something incredible for you.

Thank you for all the love and hopes for me to be feeling better.  It must have worked because my tummy is not angry anymore and I could create YAY!  For my project, I attempted to make it sewing themed and actually sew on the project as well…I’m not sure about this sewing thing still.  Maybe with some more practice.

Having NOTHING sewing related in my stash (remember fabric scares me), I first started searching for some “sewing” SVG’s and came across a fantastic blog by Sherry K Designs.  Here I was able to download the  Sewing Materials SVG file that had this form and a few others in it.  I stamped the background with the canvas background stamp from Pink By Design and then used a sentiment from K Andrew Designs Fashionable Friends set.  All the paper except the white background  I stamped the canvas on is DCWV from the Shimmer Stack.

Supplies Needed:
Sewing machine
Sewing Materials SVG
DCWV Shimmer Stack
Adhesive (Glue dot, foam dots and ATG)
Pearl Bead Strand
Memento Ink
Stamp Block
Pink By Design Canvas Background stamp
Fashionable Friends stamp (K Andrew Designs)

Today we are celebrating the unveiling of the BRAND NEW eCraft blog with this hop YAY!!!!  Qualified winners from this hop will be entered to win an eCraft of their very own!!!!  Let me say that again….ONE lucky winner will receive a BRAND new eCraft!  Thank you Craftwell for sponsoring this hop for us, we appreciate you for so many reasons.

Be sure to click here and visit the BRAND NEW eCraft blog.  I’m so excited about this you just have NO idea!!!!  In order to qualified for the eCraft giveaway once again, you must do a few things:

1.) Please leave one comment here on my blog (Only one comment per person additional comments will not count.)

2.) Stop by eCraft’s blog  and follow their blog too (this will be verified).

3.) You must be an email subscriber.  This means you have signed up for email updates and confirmed your email subscription so that you show up on my report of subscribers.  Once you sign up by email you will have to confirm your subscription (check your Spam folder) via a link that is emailed to you.  Failure to do so will result in you not showing up as a subscriber.

That is ladies and gents!  Not too hard right?  I’d love it if you’d come back and visit me throughout the hop to see what other sewing themed projects I may have for you as well, but that isn’t necessary.

Next up is the incredibly talented KimberlyRae.  She loves fabric and sewing, so be sure you check out what she’s got going on for you!  In case you get lost along the way, here is the entire hop line-up:

Faith Freeman (this is me)
KimberlyRae Forde (your next stop)

*All are welcome to hop, however. due to the weight of the machine and international shipping rates, the eCraft giveaway is only open to U.S. entries.

Anything Goes Blog Hop

Anyone who has a friend in cyberspace who will tell you their cyber friends are just as valued and important as their “real life” friends.  You know I can see you nodding in agreement right  lol?!?!?  My friend Susan and I “met” when I hosted my second hop and she chose to be a participant.  Since that time, we have developed a great friendship.  I can count on her to pray for my nephew and his seizure disorder and lend a shoulder when I need help in my Atlas role…mind you, Susan has experienced some hurricane drama too.  Nonetheless, she is eager to support and love those who matter to her and I’m so honored she asked me to take part in this hop with her!

Susan my friend, I hope with everything I have left in me that you have a fantastic birthday!  I hope you enjoy this little diddy I whipped up for ya.

Susan had so many friends wanting to help her celebrate, the hop had to be divided into two days.  For the day one hop/projects, please head over to Lynne’s blog here and start at the beginning.  Now, for day 2, you should have arrived here from Darlene’s Blog, if not, please go directly to the corner…Susan’s Corner that is and start at the beginning!  And now…on to my project.  I used so many things I am not sure exactly what…I know the paper is Tim Holtz and Colorbok, and then there’s ribbon and lace and stamping.  I don’t know which stamp sets I used, but they are rubber not polymer and I got them at Joann’s I think.

I hand beaded the pins myself and will be offering a matching set as blog candy for this hop.  To be eligible to win, please leave a comment on this post letting me know what you think about the importance of cyber friends in our lives and then head over to Susan’s blog to leave her some blog love for her birthday.  I will select a winner Tuesday.

Next up is Heather from Blessed To Cre8.  Be sure to hop on over and see what she’s got going on!  Other stops along the way are offering blog candy as well for both day 1 AND day 2 participants so be sure to hop on through everyone so you don’t miss anything.  Just in case you get lost (cuz it’s easy to do), here’s the entire line-up:

1. Susan:

2. Amy:

3. Darlene:

4. Faith:

5. Heather:

6. Indira:

7. Janet:
