Happy birthday with style

Funny what you find when you clean your room up isn’t it?  I needed some time alone with my thoughts and am too high-strung to just sit and think so my  thoughts and I hung out and cleaned up my “scred”-room tonight this morning last night or whatever you want to call it.  Anywayz….I totally forgot about having made this card for my daughter’s birthday back in ummmm the leprechaun month (shame on me that was so long ago right?!?!?).

Supplies Needed:
Spellbinders Die Set of Choice (I used one of the label ones but forget which one now)
Hero Arts Style Is Eternal Stamp and Die kit
Ink (I used Memento Tuxedo Black)
K Andrew Designs Fashionable Friends Stamp Set
Paper for card base (here I used Colorbok)
Paper for mat (from my stash)
Paper for stamped diva (from my stash)
Bling (stash)
Marker/Pen/Pencil to color in headband if desired

Ok…now how to recreate this awesome card (my daughter thought it was awesome anyway).  First you wanna take the Spellbinders die of your choice and the paper you’re using for your card base.  You will fold your card base paper in half and it should be about .5 inch larger than whatever die you are using on all sides.  Next you want to place your die so that part of it is inside or under the cutting ridge.  Here are some great videos for how to create shaped cards with Spellbinders dies (no time to reinvent the wheel):

And, in case Beate’s video doesn’t do it for you, you can also check out the photo tutorial my good friend miss Gaby posted on her blog right here!

OK…so now that we got that out-of-the-way move onto a “mat” piece by cutting the shame shape you used for your card base a size or two smaller.  Adhere to card base and set aside.  Next, pull out your white scrap and ink up your little diva from the Hero Arts set and then stamp it somewhere on your scrap piece.  Once it’s dry, you’ll want to cut it out using the matching die.  I suppose you could cut first and then stamp but I didn’t.

Now…using the “I like your style” sentiment from K Andrew Designs, mask off the “your style” (in other words tape over it) and ink up the stamp then remove tape and stamp the “I like” wherever you want it.  Do the same thing only this time masking off  “I like” and stamping “your style”.  Add a little bling to the corner if desired and voilà!  Inside I stamped Happy Birthday or some sort of birthday wish with stamps that also came from K Andrew Designs.  I was so excited to find this card again I didn’t bother to even look inside to see which sets I stamped in there.  I’m thinking it was Owly Hoo and Coffee and Tea for You and Me, but I can’t be certain.

She made it all possible

*Cough, cough* (clearing throat to sing)  Happy birthday to her, happy birthday to her, happy birthday to my Mommy, happy birthday to her.  Without her, I could not exist right.  Only fitting then that today’s promo week project feature something to celebrate this occasion.  Mom’s favorite colors are peach and blue and I have made her a card for almost every occasion I give her a card for now for a few years.  This is her birthday card this year:

For this project I used the Mariposa stacks…solid and print both.  I welded a shape from Jen Allyson Designs in the eCraft Pro Software and cut it with my eCraft.  The edges were all inked with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink from Tim Holtz and the patterned mat, scalloped and sentiment circle were all cut from the same SD Card.  I used the spirelli (sp) technique I learned from watching a Splitcoast Stampers video with my new “imitation” twine (it’s lily sugar n cream twists yarn).  The scalloped circle was hot glued to the card and the sentiment circle hot glued also.  The sentiments come from Pirate Tales and Fish Scales and Coffee and Tea for You and Me sets by K Andrew Designs.   Click the links to purchase yours!

I do hope you’ll join me again tomorrow for a fabulous and fun kids project for the monthly Getting Cricky blog hop.  Until then!

More Promo Week Projects

Happy Wednesday folks.  I was supposed to come back last night with an extra project since I was down and out on Monday, but alas I had a raging migraine and the only thing I could do was sleep.  SOOOOOOOOOOOOO, today I have two different projects for you.  Both of which of course were created with images from the Jen Allyson Designs SD Card from Craftwell.

I want to say the flower is made with image 32 in the Flower Top category, but I’m not entirely sure and don’t have the time to look it up right now.  I do know that I cut it at three inches for the pink and 1.5 inches for the white.  I used three layers of pink and hot glued each layer using my mini high temp glue gun…so glad I kept that thing man.  The white center was attached with a brad and the flower hot glued to the card.  My bow was tied using my hideously ugly bow board and the sentiment is from this set:

It is available for purchase by clicking here and is a must have set for those of you that like to send cards and projects to your fellow crafting friends.  Please note though, it can be used for many other things as well.  Kristal’s stamps are all very versatile.  In fact, I just saw someone use this set on a wedding page.  Talk about awesome.

Now…for project two/Monday’s makeup project I came up with this:

Again, the cuts from Jen Allyson Designs and the stamps from K Andrew Designs.  This particular card features the Owly Hoo Sentiments and Hoot Owl sets (clicking on the set title will take you to the ordering page).

And now…I must head back to my craft table to make more pretty stuff.  Check back tomorrow for another project and don’t miss the monthly hop on Friday!

Getting Cricky Promo Week

Once again the Getting Cricky DT is showcasing projects every day this week that feature the K Andrew Designs Stamps.  This will help  you get a good idea on just how flexible these stamps really are.  The challenge this time around (last time it was use the same set all week) is to use a cartridge you have never used or one you haven’t used in at least three months.  No, I didn’t break out my Cricut for this project…instead I chose to use an SD Card from Craftwell USA that I haven’t used in some time.  The image card is called Jen Allyson Designs and looks like this:

There are a lot of really great images on this SD Card, images I honestly had totally forgotten about.  The explosion box I made on Sunday features cuts from this SD Card as well.  Here’s what I have for you for right now:

Supplies Needed:
6 in square card base
Jen Allyson Designs SD Card
Positive Thoughts from K Andrew Desings
Pearls (flat backed and strung)
Adhesive (glue gun, foam dots and ATG)
Stickles (Crystal used here)
Ink  for sentiment (Versafine Imperial Purple used here)
Distress Ink (Tim Holtz Seedless Preserves)
Bling (random collection from my stash)

I had Sir Purplberry cut Image 9 in the frame category for me at 5.5 inches.  Next we moved onto the “cute things” category and cut the two pieces for the crown.  I’m not sure of their numbers off-hand I’m sorry.  These were cut at 4.5 inches.  After distressing the edges of Image 9 with distress ink, I took my glue gun and string of pearls and hot glued the pearls to the edge of the card.  Man…me and glue guns lately.  Last night was another glue gun fiasco…maybe I’ll blog about that later.  After I was done with that, I took the crown and applied flat backed pearls and glitter to spruce it up then set it aside to dry.

While the crown was drying, I added the sentiment “a Queen is not afraid to fail” from the Positive Thoughts stamp set shown below.  I then took two pearl swirls I had and placed them in the right corner, cutting off the end points and adding the bling instead.  I then used some more random pearls from my stash to create my own “swirls” or lines between the two to help fill up the negative space.  Once the crown dried, I adhered it offset a bit with foam dots.  All of this was placed on a 6 inch square card base.

I wasn’t feeling too great the past couple of days and did nothing more than rest yesterday so I missed a preview project for yesterday.  Please check back later today as I showcase another card creation featuring a different K Andrew Designs Stamps stamp set and another image of the Jen Allyson Designs image card!

All In The Family

If you’ve been hopping along on the right path, you should have arrived from the amazingly talented Miss Amy at Love To Crop, if not, please be sure to visit Getting Cricky to start at the beginning.  Now, onto my project.  The theme is U R So Sweet and we were to make a project that was Valentine themed or a project that was for our “sweetie”.   Since her birth, we’ve pretty much always called my oldest daughter Sweet Pea and her birthday is coming up soon.  I made this card for her but I’m not sure I’ll be able to hold out until her birthday to give it to her…

Supplies Needed
6 x 12 inch paper for card base (I used Core’dinations)
5.75 x 5.75 inch mat (I used DCWV open stock from Joann’s)
Beaded floral spray (Visit this link for a tutorial)
Tim Holtz Distress Ink (I used Seedless Grape and Festive Berry)
Adhesive (Tombow mono adhesive, glue gun and foam dots used)
Delilah Tags SVG set from Lettering Delights
K Andrew Designs Food For Thought

Score your 6 x 12 inch piece of paper at 6 inches or just fold in half.  Cut tag 5 from the SVG kit making sure to ungroup the layers and remove the inside circle.  Cut it just under 6 inches.  Cut the inside circle in two different sizes so they nest.  Attach your beaded spray to your card with glue.  Stamp your sentiments…I used the I from I relish, love, the  you from you are, the best, sweet and then pea comes from the word peas to get the sentiment the way I did.  I stamped using versafine ink, heat set for a few minutes, and then added to the slightly larger circle using foam dots, then added both circles to the tag with foam dots and finally added the entire piece to the card base.  The beaded spray was hot glued and I used my distress ink to paint the flowers.  I hope she loves it as much as I do.

Next up is my sweet friend Ildi.  Ildi I love you mamma and am so glad we are always side-by-side in these hops!!!  If you didn’t get here from Amy’s blog, be sure you go back to the beginning and start out at Getting Cricky. One lucky viewer could win a Scrap’n Easel woo hoo!  And, if you get lost along the way, here’s the entire line-up:

Actually, with last night’s snow fall I’m really not LOL.  Welcome to day 4 of Project Week for Getting Cricky.  I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing all the amazing projects my DT Sisters and I have worked so hard to bring you.  Today’s project is a little late and I do apologize.  I taught a class last night with more women than I could count and then let my kids stay up late playing in the snow.  We don’t get much here so it might be there only chance to enjoy that icky cold wet white stuff all winter.  Anyway…as I’ve sat here and shivered every time the kids open my front door and leave it ajar, I knew I wanted to do something HOT for today’s project.  Here’s what I came up with:

The stamps are of course the Food For Thought set and the heart and flames came from Fundamentals 1 and Destination USA SD Cards from Craftwell.  I cut them on my eCraft using a stabilizer, no tabs, pressure at 5.5 and the paper was core’dinations.  The background mat is more from the Studio G package I picked up at Wal-Mart for this project.  Just in case you haven’t had a chance to view them yet…check out the newest release, now available for pre-order.  Don’t forget…free shipping with code faithfreeship at checkout!

Until tomorrow my crafty friends!

Sprinkled with…

Welcome to Day 3 of Project Week!  Are you enjoying what the Getting Cricky Design Team has been featuring?  I sure am.  Seeing these projects myself has me inspired to use my stamps in ways I never thought about.  Being able to mix and match sentiments within sets or even by combing sets allows countless combinations perfect for pretty much any occasion.  When you couple the existing sets with the BRAND NEW releases, you’ll be in stamping heaven!

For today’s project, I have again used the Food For Thought set by K Andrew Designs.  I masked of the “nice” in the sentiment “alot of nice” and came phrase sprinkled with a lot of sweet love.  Check it out:

I used Spellbinders Heart Circles and Classic Circles Small and a butterfly cut from Fundamentals 1 on my eCraft.  I also took one of my I Am Roses flowers apart and used it with a heart button center that I got at Joann’s.  The background paper is Studio G and came in a paper pack I found at Wal-Mart for a dollar.

I have to confess…when I bought this set I didn’t think I’d use it that much.  I’m not huge into food puns.  I also haven’t used it at all until it came time to create these projects for Project Week.  What I can now say though is that it is becoming one of my favorites YAY!  My hot button for stamp sets right now though is the NEW release from K Andrew Designs.  Oh my gosh…I really think Kristal has pretty much nailed it.  In case you missed it yesterday, please check out some of the NEW sets available to pre-order RIGHT now!  Oh yeah…
